The world is uncertain, and we face greater challenges than ever. How will we rise to the occasion?

For many community-based organizations, partnerships with larger organizations or governments have provided funding for community supporting activities and operational growth alike. Now, we are forced to choose: support our communities with the little funding leftover, or support strategic operations? And for many, the choice is obvious: support our communities however we can, with whatever we can until it’s no longer possible. This strategy is risky: without organizational development and support, we risk systematic issues that can spiral into much larger problems. Equally, without operational funding, it becomes harder to truly understand how our programs support our communities, or to find new ways to provide that support.

At Deibert Consulting, I believe that we must be able to do both. Regardless of where we are, in the US or abroad, and regardless of whom we serve, my aim is to help you thrive. My work to date has primarily supported community organizations in Asia, Europe, and Africa, and I am now offering pro bono support to organizations across the globe who feel they may benefit:

  • Organizational vision, strategy, and growth planning, including strategic planning, SWOT analysis, and business continuity strategy
  • Program and project support, including report writing, project design, and proposal development
  • Operational management, including financial and operations process development
  • Training and skills development in my areas of expertise, including international religious freedom and LGBTQ human rights support

My experience includes developing and managing a large consortium of organizations across 12 countries; facilitating growth planning and service development for nonprofit organizations across Asia, Europe, and Africa; and leading funding and strategic planning at global nonprofits. Representative past work includes:

  • Delivering community needs assessments trainings for community-based organizations in Africa and Asia
  • Leading data analytics and visualization storytelling for impact trainings for human rights, faith-based, and policy nonprofits
  • Hosting annual learning events for 60+ participants, facilitating participatory strategic work planning and design
  • Developing and facilitating trainings for civil society and human rights organizations on the intersection of freedom of religion or belief and other areas of rights
  • Creating and implementing budget and program management processes for global and community-based organizations

About me: after spending three years teaching in South Korea and China, I returned to Washington, DC to embark on a career supporting causes close to my heart: advancing human rights and good democratic governance. For 13 years, I’ve been leading international development programs that ensure governments are responsive to the needs of their communities, and that these responses protect the most vulnerable among us. In 2020, my focus shifted to primarily consider the intersection of religious freedom and the rights of communities like Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ individuals, and women. As the shift in US priorities eliminates support for foreign assistance in these areas, I am shifting my aims to ensure that community organizations can continue their work as long as possible.
